Personal safety when sharing a ride

It is your responsibility to maintain your own personal safety when travelling and using the services of travellerscarmarket.com to help with your travel plans. Your safety is very important to us at travellerscarmarket.com. and for this reason we have made our service customisable so that you can choose whether you want your contact details viewable online or whether you want contact to made via e-mail. If you have any personal safety concerns while travelling with anyone you have met via travellerscarmarket please contact Simon or Jason immediately via e-mail at sales@travellerscarmarket.com.

Here are some of the things that you should consider for your own safety :

Always take a mobile phone with you when travelling.

Meet your travel companion(s) in a public place, and if possible before your departure.

Check your fellow travellers identification and if it doesn't match with the information you have been given, or if you feel in any way uncomfortable with them, then DO NOT TRAVEL. You have no obligation to go ahead with any ride that you have arranged through travellerscarmarket.com.

When you meet to travel make sure you have an alternative travel plan if you decide not to go ahead with the ride.

If you feel safer travelling with people of the same sex then state this in the comments box when listing your advert e.g. "I prefer to travel with other females".

It is a good idea to make sure that someone you trust is aware of your travel plans ( who you are going with, where, and when you expect to arrive ) before you depart. Out of courtesy you should contact them when you arrive safely and you should arrange for them to ring to check that you are OK if you don't contact them by a certain time.

If you need to make an emergency phone call the number is 000 in Australia and 111 in New Zealand. These calls are free on land lines or mobile phones. Be aware that many newer digital phones require the user to dial 112, the international standard emergency number. Consult your carrier if you are uncertain how to access the emergency network.
